Minto Township |
Township of Minto (Harriston, Palmerston, Clifford and Minto): this rural farming community is making enormous strides towards becoming walking friendly. The Town of Minto and various partners continue to work towards building a walkable community.
Over the last three years a number of streetscape projects have taken place in the downtown cores to encourage more active travel. These improvements include interlocking brick boulevards, trees, pedestrian scale lighting, murals, bike racks and benches.
The Palmerston Lions Club, in partnership with the Town of Minto and the Province of Ontario, transformed the former railway property in downtown Palmerston into a beautiful active park, which includes a walking trail, splash pad, swimming pool, sports pad and band shell.
With the help of our In Motion Coordinator the Town of Minto lobbied the six other lower tier municipalities and the County of Wellington to develop a County-wide Active Transportation Plan and create cycling lanes on County roads.
